In class we watched a video called food matters. In the video their major claim was that if we were to just eat healthy less medical medicine would be needed. If we would just put the right food into our bodies we wouldn’t get sick as much and live a healthier life style.
The big claim in the video is that nutritional therapy is most affective. I think that this video make many valid points. However when it comes down to it what are the people going to choose. The side where they are telling us to eat healthy and we will miraculously start to feel better, or the side where they are handing us the standard medication for the illness telling us to take that for a week and we will start to see results.
I am not agreeing or disagreeing with this movie, I think it was an eye opener and many people should reevaluate their diet. But the point I am trying to make is that not many people are open to nutritional therapy because it isn’t what they are used to. Many people going into the doctors are expecting to get something prescribed to them, not told to eat healthier. However people aren’t realizing that medicine doesn’t focus on the rood of the cause or the long term of the illness.
If more people were open to spending the money for the healthier food, and put in the time to meal prep and do some research on getting the right foods and nutrients in their bodies, they would probably end up saving money in the sense of they would be healthier which means less doctors visits and less medicine.
